I am saying, and I think you also demonstrate, that the angle of the disc relative to the ground changes through the swing. Or are you saying plane is the same as angle?

@Mike Not all elite throwers start with the disc vertical as they swing forward on their forehands - but a strong majority do. Finishing with palm up is a key point either way. Starting with palm down pulls your elbow back giving you more swing through (and likewise, pulling your elbow back tilts your palm down).Owenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03469814563421745485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814552.post-21930152579190535842011-05-14T20:18:04.252+10:002011-05-14T20:18:04.252+10:00@SStowi You're right. That starting position, while common, isn't a universal--my wicked IO starts being held rather flatter.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15716908266431672312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814552.post-71686114614644719032010-11-24T09:07:20.290+11:002010-11-24T09:07:20.290+11:00Teach it immediately. As the palm rotates from palm up to palm down, it brings the disc to level, and, well, flat flick flies far.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14116520689333710086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814552.post-57265372767430062352010-11-02T05:20:51.533+11:002010-11-02T05:20:51.533+11:00Owen,

That's what I remember doing as a beginner, too, so that I've always told beginners to hinge at the wrist and minimize wrist roll at the snap.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814552.post-77028092899978280212010-10-05T13:06:13.194+11:002010-10-05T13:06:13.194+11:00Thanks for that Owen - I reckon that will be a rea...Thanks for that Owen - I reckon that will be a really effective teaching cue.Juleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08980838206452503768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814552.post-37644572862348220452010-09-30T19:38:01.297+10:002010-09-30T19:38:01.297+10:00That's a good hint! I'll have to teach throwing forehands to absolute beginners again this winter and I've never thought about the grip angle in this way - but it's actually the way I throw forehands myself.

Thanks for the tip and keep on posting :)Johanneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01148504759440189523noreply@blogger.com
